Taking part in inclusive education

On 4 May, we took part in the Ring the Bell campaign in Bamenda. The event brought together children, teachers, parents and community groups around access to inclusive education. It included poems, dance and discussion. Later in May, we participated in a school graduation and prize-giving event and spoke with pupils and parents about inclusion.

Preparing the next steps

We made referrals for vocational learning and small livelihood activities and held an online meeting to prepare the annual general meeting. These entries record the referrals and planning. Training attendance and later activity require their own follow-up records.

4 May: Ring the Bell

The campaign at Church Center Hall brought together children, parents, teachers and community groups around the theme ‘From Policy to Practice: Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities’. Activities included poems, dance, a fashion parade and a presentation on inclusive education. Slogans called for children’s rights, removal of barriers and teacher training. The report links the programme to CBC’s EDID work and Liliane Fonds.

CVID-Cam made contact through the Women’s Work Department of the Presbyterian Church. Participation connected the organisation with educators and families. Three people’s names were submitted for consideration for vocational learning. That submission was a referral stage, without a claim that all placements had begun.

Planning, referrals and the school graduation

An online meeting on 8 May considered the upcoming AGM, organisational updates and finances. Eight members attended, with absences and network difficulties noted. On 26 May, two participants were referred to AID-ChrisWOV for income-generating training and start-up support. The June report records the later training dates.

At Glorious Nursery and Primary School’s graduation on 31 May, CVID-Cam spoke to pupils and parents about inclusive practices. Prizes recognised improved pupils across nursery and primary classes, a teacher and a parent. The coordinator also visited the Regional Hospital’s Listening and Orientation Unit to enquire about counselling referrals. The monthly record brings together preparation, public participation and individual follow-up.
